Employee wellness programs can reduce health costs, hospital admissions

According to a report on PepsiCo's Healthy Living wellness program published in Health Affairs, employee participation in both disease and lifestyle-management workplace wellness programs resulted in a cost reduction of $160 per month and a 66% decline in hospital admissions. The disease-management program alone helped employees cut health costs by $136 each month, but the lifestyle-management initiative did not have a substantial impact on medical costs.
