New Resource from Texas Business Group on Health

A note from Texas Business Group on Health:

We are pleased to send you the Survey Report on Texas employers' tobacco policies and cessation programs. The survey, conducted in April, is a collaborative initiative of TBGH, University of Texas at Austin and the Texas Department of State Health Services. Over 80 employers across the state, mostly mid-size and large, participated in this survey.

The health-related and economic burdens of tobacco use are well known. Everyone-smokers and non-smokers, the employed and unemployed, and employers-pay a heavy price for this unhealthy and costly habit. As you will see in this Report, employers are playing a big role in helping their employees kick the habit. Most Texas employers have tobacco use policies in place, and many also have taken the next step and offer a variety of innovative tobacco cessation programs and support resources.

We hope you find the information in this survey report useful, not only for benchmarking your own efforts to reduce tobacco use against other Texas employers' tobacco use policies and cessation programs, but also for the helpful recommendations from nationally recognized organizations and the rich array of valuable resources included at the end of the Report.
