On its "Health Reform 101" webpage, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has launched a "pay or play" calculator to help employers determine how much of a penalty they could be facing if they don't comply with the parameters of the law. Employers can input some basic information about their employees and whether they currently offer coverage to get an estimated penalty amount. In addition to the calculator, the Chamber has other resources including a Frequently Asked Questions list, and a visual flowchart to help employers understand whether the "pay or play" requirement will apply to them.
NBCH submitted a comment letter on the proposed regulation on March 18, 2013, and that letter is posted on the NBCH Health Policy webpage. Final regulations are expected sometime this summer, but the preamble to the rule states that employers can rely on the proposed regulations through 2014.
