New RWJF Materials on Employer Actions to Improve Health Care Value
As the largest purchaser of care in America, employers pay a high price for poor-quality care. Poor-quality care, including care that is excessive, ineffective, or harmful, costs a typical employer between $1,900 and $2,250 per employee every year. A new suite of materials showcases lessons from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Aligning Forces for Quality to help employers drive accountability for providers and insurers, and help employees get better quality care to make more efficient use of health care dollars. By taking steps to improve the quality of health care, employers can help employees stay healthy while saving money. Employers have the potential to catalyze real, lasting change in the health care system, and these materials can help identify ways to start getting their money’s worth for the health care they pay for.
