International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans Survey Says Employers Want to Keep Parts of Health Care Law
The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, based on survey responses from 1,027 of its members, found that companies and workers agree they’d like to retain two aspects of President Barack Obama’s health law: prohibiting insurers from excluding people with pre-existing conditions and permitting adult children to remain on their parents’ health insurance until age 26. The people surveyed — including health plan administrators, trustees and worker representatives from the public and private sector — said they’d like Congress to reinstate those provisions if the Supreme Court overturns the law later this month. Employers and employees differed on some aspects of the law they’d like retained. Employers said they hoped the keep the ability to offer wellness incentives to their workers, and employees preferred the elimination of co-pays and deductibles for receiving preventive care.
