According to CDC, U.S. obesity epidemic at a standstill

According to a new report from the CDC, Prevalence of Obesity in the United States, 2009-2010, there appears to have been a slowing down in the rate of increase or even a leveling off of the prevalence of obesity. Given the health risks, it is important to continue to track the prevalence among U.S. adults and children.

This report presents the most recent national estimates of obesity in the United States based on measured weight and height. More than one-third of adults and almost 17 percent of children were obese in 2009-2010. Those numbers are no different than they were in 2003.

"It's good that we didn't see increases," said CDC researcher Cynthia Ogden. "On the other hand, we didn't see any decreases in any group."
