Health Policy: Latest News- IOM Issues Recommendations on Essential Health Benefits
On October 6, the nonpartisan Institute of Medicine of the National Academies (IOM) issued its 297-page report providing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) with a set of criteria and approaches for developing a package of “essential health benefits,” as applicable to individual and small group coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).
